Aggro: Becoming the primary target of a mob. Used in many different ways, as both a noun, verb, and adjective. For example: "Draw aggro on the wolf before it kills me!", "Aggro that ranger as soon as we start the fight", or "Shit, the boss is aggroed." Closely related to "threat".
Death: This is what happens when you lose all your health after being "downed". At this point you must be revived by an ally or teleport to a waypoint (which costs money). It also randomly damages one of your items. It will damage any undamaged ones first before completely breaking any.
Downed: Also known as being in a "survival" state, this is what happens when your health drops to 0. You go into a state where you can't move and are restricted to exactly 4 skills that are specific to your class. The skills are usually a spammable damage skill, a stunner/disabler, a unique class ability (e.g. teleport, mist form, retribution), and bandaging. While in a downed state you lose health at a moderate pace- when your health reaches zero (again) you finally die. Mobs attacking you reduce your remaining health. Bandaging yourself or being revived increases your health. When your health bar maxes out, you come back to life with your health at a fraction of your maximum.
Mats: "materials", any items used for crafting.
Mob: Short for "mobile", this is a term used to refer to any moving PC/NPC in the world. However, the most common definition is that of an enemy "monster"- basically, any hostile in the world, whether it be a bear, a bandit, or an earth elemental. The name dates back to the days of MUDs.
Threat: The amount of "hatred" a mob has towards someone. The person with the most threat for a mob is usually the current target. The underlying mechanics for this are still mysterious and unclear. For my personal theory, see this article.
